Day 11 - June 5 - Columns Rise and PUC relations with Packianathapuram Grow
Hey everyone,
Danish here from PUC Team India! So much progress has been made and we all are so thankful for everyone that has supported this team and project throughout the past year.
Today was a very productive day. It started off with the team working together with some of the young boys in the village to shift bricks from the ground up and into the center of the building. This would make it really easy for the masons to quickly lay the walls once the columns had cured. The workers finished laying the stairs while the team discussed the height of the lintel beam (a beam that supports window and door covers) and how it would be integrated into the existing columns. Afterwards, we discussed the the dimensions of the doors and windows all around the building and made some minor adjustments to provide more aesthetic appeal.
After working in the evening, the team enjoyed an evening with the kids. The boys learned how to play ultimate frisbee and some of the younger boys and girls dance to music playing on the loud speaker. Right after playing with the kids, we joined the people in the village for an impromptu sing-a-long.
Don't forget to tune in tomorrow for more updates and some funny pictures of Arvind, Harsha, and me in dhothis. #toocoolforpants #dhotilife
