Day 8 - June 2 - Building the Foundation
Today we helped the workers carry bricks to the walls so they could begin placing them on the structure. We formed an assembly line to move the bricks faster and even some of the children helped out! I think the workers really appreciated our help and gave us some of their snacks. We were all exhausted after about 3 hours on the site carrying bricks but also taking water breaks and throwing a frisbee around. Meanwhile the workers worked all morning without a break. It's crazy to think that these people are so strong that they can be under the harsh sun all day and be ready to work the next day. On that note, I noticed the villagers barely sweat while we're out here sweating buckets.
In between the brickwork, some of us helped the family nearby with plucking cotton from the burr and they gave us palm seeds again.
Everyone here is so friendly and we can't wait to meet everyone else. Stay tuned!
