Milestone #4 was a success!

We presented our final SLAB presentation on Friday, May 5th! All seems to be going well, minus the fact that we have not received our project building approval from the Indian government yet. We hope that it comes any day now.

SLAB seemed to have one concern about leaks in the building since we have no plan for a barrier between the concrete slab roof and the building interior, but Ken says thats how they do it in India, so I guess we will find out! We have a feeling that there is much for us to learn and adapt to upon arrival.

We have a few things to review as a team before our departure in 2 weeks. Today we met to discuss some more team logistics - the plan for in-country roles. We are still deciding what people would like to manage, but think internal/external communication representatives, budget manager, community engagement officer, risk and safety manager, personal logistics manager and a PM to help keep everyone organized. We also plan to set aside some future time to review the building plans as a team, so that everyone understands each phase of construction and what to look for in QA/QC (Quality Assurance/Quality Control).

So excited to meet everyone in India soon, just have to plow through final exams first!!

P.s. Today we celebrated team birthdays, so here is this cute pic to go with. Kiera made an awesome and so delicious cheesecake for us ;) And yeah.. we sang Happy Birthday in the FAC ...

And here are a few photos of us getting ready for the SLAB presentation! Lots of project plan copies!!
