SLAB Presentation - Milestone 2

On Friday, we presented our second Milestone presentation to the Service Learning Advisory Board (SLAB). [SLAB is composed of a group of professional engineers and professors who are experts in the fields of engineering and social work. They will be the ones to make the final decision to approve or disapprove the implementation of our project.]

The presentation went really well and we received a lot of great feedback - here are a few notes: research drainage in the region, make a line item in the budget for drinking water (10-15 gal/day), design toilets and build foundation for next year's team, think about alternatives to a concrete roof, and make sure to promote natural ventilation and daylight for the building. It was also shared with us that this years PUC teams have set a new high for accomplishments during the fall semester. Shout out to all of PUC for all the hard work!

With the Milestone II completed and the winter break upon us, our team is transitioning into new roles and developing a plan for things to accomplish over winter break. We would like to thank Nina Lobo for serving as our PM during Fall 2016 and also congratulate Anna Wittenmyer for being selected as the new PM for Spring 2017. As we move into winter break we will continue to focus on Fundraising and Technical Developments.

The HornRaiser campaign has gone really well and we are just over the 50% mark for fundraising the $22,000 that we need to build the community center!! We have until December 22nd to meet our Fall goal of $15,000. Be on the look out for more HornRaiser updates!
